Advanced Guide to High School Essay Writing Second Edition
Advanced Guide to High School Essay Writing Second EditionIn the second edition of Advanced Guide to High School Essay Writing, Ron Moreau and Dan Glass cover topics including essay writing styles, grammar, and style. The authors also go over the different types of essay samples for students to see how they can use them in their own essays. Some of the topics that the authors touch on include: essay samples, essay formatting, and techniques for using and mastering grammar. Other topics include: essay examples to improve essay writing, essay practice, essay writing styles, using clear and concise phrases, the importance of using the correct spelling and grammar, and how important it is to proofread your essay before submitting it.In order to successfully write an essay, students need to first understand some of the basic skills required to do so. Grammar and sentence structure are probably the most basic skills that all students must have. However, these two basic writing skills are of ten ignored by many students. For example, a student who is doing poorly in class may be using a grammar mistake that is common among the non-native speakers and is not even used by native speakers. Such an error may show up as a missing comma or hyphen, an extra word, or too many apostrophes. Often, the student will simply use the wrong dictionary or spell checker to correct the error. This causes the essay to have a more noticeable grammar error, or even worse, a grammar error that is not even grammatically correct. Many students who fail to write essays correctly even make grammatical errors with their names. In the second edition of Advanced Guide to High School Essay Writing, the authors go over why this can be the case and how to avoid it.The third chapter goes over the many different ways that students can practice writing essays in order to write better essays. The chapters that I found most interesting in this edition of the book was the one on essay editing and how to edit y our essay. These topics are not necessarily about grammar but more about how to improve the essay.Another example was when the authors recommended that a student look for a free essay template that they felt might work well for them. After looking at several, the student was able to use a free template as a basis for their own essays. This approach is one of the most effective methods that is taught in this book, because it allows the student to find what works best for them, rather than having to modify the entire essay each time they change the essay topic.Overall, the fourth chapter in the second edition of Advanced Guide to High School Essay Writing is about three pages long and goes over the aspects of how to write an essay that is important for students to know. If you are a student who wants to improve the quality of your essays, then this book is a must have.
